In the midst of graduate school, I took on another role:

Fellow.

IDEAS (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Social Justice) have always been a passion of mine, harking back to my undergraduate studies. I initially thought there wasn't room for IDEAS in the Marketing, Branding, and Communications field and have discovered through my fellowship that IDEAS can (and need) exist in every field. Through this fellowship, I have envisioned a future where organizations make communications decisions through an IDEAS-focused lens while learning through my cohort members how IDEAS can take shape through many roles.

Oh hey, I gave a TED talk...

Speaking at TEDxVCU was one of the hardest things I've had to prepare for, yet one of the most rewarding things I've ever done. Standing in front of a crowd of 200 speaking about my coming out journey wasn't something I anticipated happening in my graduate school career, but life is full of surprises. My talk was titled "It's Not Coming Out, But Coming Home," and I still stand by that statement today. Coming out should be reframed as coming home because...well if I told you here that would spoil the talk.  Watch my TED talk below:
